AU story:
Claire grew up in New York, but after Peter blew up, Nathan set her away to be protected.
While pretending to be part of another family in California, Claire is plagued by nightmares and reaches out to her father via cell phone, even though he rebuffs her. At school she meets a boy, West, and while out with him, she shares her secret. While remembering the last time she hugged her father, West catches her.

It came out a bit blurrier than I wanted, and the blurriest parts are supposed to be memories/dreams.
