Watch in high def if you can. This is my first video of Jupiter. It was shot with an Insignia camcorder and my celestron 8 telescope. The wind was blowing hard that night, so there's some shakiness, but I will continue to film the planets, and eventually get better shots. I'll continue to post new videos as I get them.

  • what is camcorder?

  • @Webkinzgirl624 It was an insignia hd camcorder. It's very small and light, and has an lcd screen on the back so you can see what you're filming. It was $55 on ebay.

  • Pretty incredible that you could get that image with a camcorder and a few rubber bands!!!! I just bought my 1st scope this year -Celestron SE8 - I HAVE to try this out before Jupiter disappears this winter.

  • Yeah the camcorder thing worked out pretty well. If you do it with one like mine, for some reason you have to stay zoomed in a little bit or you wind up looking at the inside of the scope. Saturn's out. It's always good for viewing/filming.

    very nice ;)

  • Hello. It's an Insignia NS-DCC5HB09 camcorder with 3" lcd screen. You can buy one on ebay for around sixty dollars. It has an 8x electronic zoom. If I remember correctly, I was using about 6.5x zoom with a 12mm eyepiece. I used rubber bands to hold the camera to the eyepiece. This was a cheap way of doing it. If you have the money, you might want to look at a DSLR camera.

    Thanks for watchin!

  • It's a Celestron 8 inch sct, sort of midway powerful, but a good all around scope. Part of the reason Jupiter looks so huge is because my camera also has a zoom. Thanks for watching!
