A time lapse painting of Geoffrey Stapleton's rather subjective view of music history which includes Australian band GANGgajang.

The picture took ten weeks to paint and was commissioned by Sue and Paul Fagan who also appear in the painting discussing the evening's entrertainment. The band, "The Mentals" they refer to is the legendary Australian band "Mental As Anything".

The writing is hard to read at first but becomes legible as the clip progresses.

  • How lucky we are in this digital age to be able to witness a painting taking shape and colour by the brush of one of the world's great painters. And then there's the glorious soundtrack as well. Geoffrey Stapleton is our treasure. Thanks for the DoveAngels, the Harp Recorder capturing their spirit for the future, the tympany scored with zeros and ones.

    Forever in awe, Rob J

  • Thank you Robert James and I can assure you the sense of awe is entirely mutual...that's why two of your timeless guitar riffs from GANGgajang's "Sounds Of Then (This Is Australia)" appear in this piece. You are a huge part of my history of music. Can't wait to hear some of your new "classical" work for strings. In the mean time i notice your attracting quite a few hits on youtube with your wonderful song and clip, "Forgotten Beach (Byron Bay)". Again, thank you for your generous comment Rob.

  • This just an amazing piece of work...you truly are an inspiration...i wish i had some of your wonderful ideas floating around in my head for the taking...good onya Geoff for feeding us your wonderful imagination on canvas to video...Cheers Al

  • Coming from a great ideas man such as yourself, this is high praise indeed..thank you Al.

  • That is just beautiful!

  • Thank you Ozmama, so glad you liked it
