"Some of you have had a lot of experience in HIEs, and some are just getting involved, but for anybody that's been involved in HIEs at all you recognize that when you've seen one, you've seen one. HIEs tend to grow up in different markets based on a unique mix of history, participants, politics, technology that's been deployed, and so on. So it's very important for me to say right now that we're not going to tell anyone that this approach is the right approach, the wrong approach, the best approach or anything else. What we think would be most helpful for you today is for us to share why we made the decisions we did, to share some of the aspects of the Washington State healthcare marketplace, a little bit about OneHealthPort, and then talk about how, based on that environment, we crafted this thin-layer design."
