How about try to practice a lot with the original and then return to the karaoke version instead of ruining a good song?
-
then go search the crappy english dub version and rape a good perfect japanese song in Western style.

Wow! This is amazing~ The background harmony is even there xD
Did you rip it yourself, or is this just a karaoke. If you did, epic kudos! Thank you for linking the file too!

Thanks
I did a stereo cancellation to cancel out the vocals - however as you know this will cancel out EVERYTHING in the centre...bass, drums..
The result was everythign except vocals, bass, kick, snare and toms - so I basically had to reconstruct those (except the vocals) with virtual instruments
The reason why the harmony remains is those are typically placed in the outer channels

Oh, and addition, prior to mixing my reconstructed parts, I placed the result into the outer channels since the result was mono though.. this also loses the left/right panning of the rhythm/lead guitars.. oh well :(

Wait, bass and drums both get knocked out as well?! No wonder First Good-bye sounds so bad to me after the stereo cancellation. This helps me a lot; now I have to go repost some audio to some videos. Great job.

In most cases yes, as in most cases Bass and Drums will be mixed in centre (as they should be), though its also usual practice to pan the Toms, Hi-Hats and Cymbals in their "real life" positions rather than centre.
If reconstructing is not an option there are some vocal cancellation effects that try to preserve bass, and some even try to preserve stereo. In fact, these old Aiwa and Sony stereos I used to own had a great vocal fader filter on them :o
