Properly adjusted propane burners should burn pure blue without yellow tips or orange flaring or soot. With butane if you don't get soot then that's ok but there is always a tendancy to develop slight yellow tips with this sort of gas.
Orange does not mean full blast. Orange means to adjust your air intake. You are not getting enough air to the propane for a proper mixture. Your flame should always be blue or you will turn your kettles black and it wont burn as hot.

Don't forget to open up the air intake when you turn the flame up high. Orange flame sucks.
