Before installing struts compress them a few times by hand to check for this kind of thing.

@bqluong Hello. It could've been the rubber mounts/damper, the way the springs were installed. If the springs are not resting on the rubber damper correctly, this will cause that clunking sound as it has in mine when I first made an attempt installing my Bilsteins not realizing the springs have to be set correctly on the bottom rubber damper. Notice that the end (last coil) of the springs are not a circle in shape. They have to correctly fit the shape of the dampers. LimayBoy

Well Monroe determined it was a faulty strut. They sent me a new one. Wasted over a month debugging this problem
