Brett, a chinook, pulls a chalo sulky on a Sunday morning along the BPA power line trail. He trots on black top, gravel and dirt. He chases rabbits. He retrieves sticks and plays tug of war. A plea is made to make trails under power lines across the country. The adventure takes place in Federal Way Washington.

  • Hellos SoldCitizen, I never stop. I tell my dogs "Pass haw" and they move to the left and pass the pedestrians. I think you should hitch your dogs to a tire and walk them on a crowded trail. When you see a pedestrian/dog/hiker, start running. Run right by that dog as fast as you can. Maybe train one dog at a time because it is easier to reinforce the on-by.

  • The dogs I use look like a cross between a golden retrievr and a german shepherd. You will have a fine pulling dog. The main training to do with a puppy is to put a harness on him and teach him that whenever a line is attached to the harness and weight is pulling on the harness, he should walk in front of you. Heeling is with a leash to the collar and Up front and pull is in front of you. Work on Up Front/pull before you work on walk beside me and don't pull.

  • Would really love to see these in the UK.. and tracks under the pylons, that'd be great.

  • @PawsnMich I agree. I just moved to a new State and new city and in January will meet with city council to propose a trail system around and through the city.

  • I have another question, when you are gonna pass a dog/hiker head on, do you stop? I like to stop and hold my dogs at the side of the trail because they get very excited about dogs and I'm trying to teach them that it's NOT OKAY to stop and sniff when they're pulling. Sometimes I give them snacks while the other dog is passing to distract them too. Is this good for their training? If i do this enough times will they learn to ignore? Thank you, your videos have been really helpful for training.

  • Daphne, I watched all three of your sulky videos. This one is my favorite. I love the cheesy quality of the narration:-) I've been scootering for a couple of years now but I'm currently trying to build my own sulky until I can afford to buy one of yours.

  • Awesome Dog!

  • What a great video! I am mobility impaired and I have a new Golden Retriever/German Shepherd(?) puppy I'm training as a service dog. Just think how nice it would be if I could get one of these and use it for doing small errands and exercising my dog. I have a Springer for my bike, but I'm having to get a different bike as the one I have now isn't working for me anymore. I have to lay it over in order to get on and off of it.

  • Thank you for these videos! I absolutely love watching them. I'll have to save up, but I will get one of these one day. In the meantime, I'll have to be content to watch. Merry Christmas and happy driving.

  • Labrador retrievers make fine pulling dogs. Many are overweight. But they can lose the weight and can buff up just fine.
