Johnny and The Hurricanes - "Minnesota fats" (1962) - Instrumental Popcorn Oldies.
Johnny and The Hurricanes was a rock and roll band that began as "The Orbits" in Toledo, Ohio in 1957.
Led by saxophonist Johnny Paris (born John Pocisk - 1940-2006), they were school friends who played on a few recordings behind Mack Vickery, a local rockabilly singer.
In 1959 with a new drummer, the group now called Johnny and The Hurricanes released "Red river rock".
From 1959-1961 the group had many hit singles and albums, usually charting higher in Europe than in their native USA.
Love it!!!

Butch Cook played with the Hurricanes during 1962 - 63. Butch and I worked together in early '62 in another band before leaving it in late '62 to join another group. Butch was a close friend of mine during those years and good friends are hard to find. Jerry Pynckel ex Hurricane
