"the greek" isn't albanian or russian - he's armenian, just listen to the exchange between him and the sailor ( who was turkish ) they killed over the dead prostitutes - he makes subtle references to the centuries-old beef between turks and armenians - "turkish, huh? you got that little hook on your nose. don't worry, patrioti. i got nothing against the turks. that was the old world, this is the new." amazing and enigmatic, none the less.
I didn't like season 2 the first time around, but the second time I did really like it.
I think what turned me off the first time is that season 1 gets you so immersed in the Bell/Barksdale stuff and then in season 2 the show really deviates from that and all of a sudden it's all about these dockworkers, "greeks", & eastsiders that we never even saw in season 1, just kind of disorienting, but after seeing all 5 series, I knew it was all part of the story so I appreciated it a lot more.
