It's not possible to run any os'es, except Linux on PS3. The reason is that Windows isnt compiled for PS3's CPU (PPC I think).
-
doesn't work
-
i want to know what is more gd fedora or ubuntu
-
The same reason that macs couldn't prior to 2007, they used powerpc chips instead of intel i386 or the AMD equivents.
-
well, i was basing it on the fact that those operating systems didn't need too much memory. windows 95/98 ran fine with about 128mb ram. combined the ps3 has a total of 512mb ram, so i was suggesting that the ps3 could run it. Why can't the cell processor run windows 95/98?
-
That would be Impossible. Windows 95 and onwards run on i386 processors only.
It would be a longshot but you could try NT 4, it ran on PowerPC as well as i386.
-
has anyone tried windows 95 or windows 98 on the PS3?

"Seems to be installing just fine using kboot and otheros.self files obtained from 8/08"
*rasp* Damn, I tried otheros.self file from 06/08, and it wouldn't work. I managed to get FC5 running, but yum is useless because the repositories are closed, si I'll have to upgrade from the FC10 DVD.

HACK! HACK! Im a failing!

is it final version?
It's a real pain in the ass, for some reason the wifi worked fine after the first install, on a 1080i HD TV, but later when I got back to my home system, 1080p, the wifi stopped working and had several kernel errors.
I haven't had a chance to check out the logs, or recompile the kernel, but I think I'm going to go for Gentoo so I can get a little better support for the SPU Libs...
But that's a whole 'nother story.
