- i disagree. This is fine stuff! Good recording, great vocal, dig the piano, nice drums & fuzzy guitar. Recorded at Bradley Studios/Quonset Hut...where Gene Vincent & Blue Caps and Johnny Burnette Trio laid down the finest stuff of their careers! Owen B. and the A-list Nashville Cats were good company to be amongst. This track kind of reminds me of some classic Dale Hawkins recordings (Tornado, Yea-Yea (Class Cutter), Little Pig, Suzie-Q).

It was all that stupid sax and piano that killed Carl's chances at Columbia from the very start. If somthing already works, then don't try to fix it. All you hear on all of his Columbia recordings is Saxaphone, piano and lots of eccho. What a waste of good talent. Carl should have stayed at Sun Records.

This is probably my favourite rocker of Carls. I think this dates from his time with Columbia, post 58. I think his Columbia stuff was a lot better than his original Sun stuff imho!

The reason Carl Perkins fell into Elvis' shadow was due to a car accident that sidelined Carl for a while. Almost messed up his guitar playing. Elvis recorded Blue Suede Shoes and the rest is history. These are facts that can be checked.

I heard the reason his carrer died is because he was supposed to be on Ed Sullivan but had a cold, so they clled Elvis to appear. And the rest is History.

Have you forgotten that Jerry Lee Lewis played piano at Sun and elsewhere with no ill effects?
