AMC - loved this open, and the middle break - the announcer was like the voice of god "All My Children will continue......in a moment".

i used to like the announcer at that time. After the last scene in the first half hour, the music was always very dramamtic, and they would go to a still photo of the yellow book with the flowers, and the announcer would say "All My Children will continue...in a moment" He was an older man and had a great voice.

@RSK10580 actually this is a variation of the original theme, which i've always thought they should have stayed with for continuity. I've never actually watched Days of our Lives but who doesn't know the hourglass opening with the announcer saying "like sands thru the hourglass so are the days of our lives'. seriously they should never get rid of it. Y&R still uses the same theme music they've had since day one as well.

I was born in 1980 and started watching in 1992. So I think is the most boring opening I've ever scene. With that said ... I also realize, that I'm 31 years old, I still prefer 80s and 90s music to the current stuff (although, I'm open enought to let a few songs in). I really think we hold dear what we started with. So I'll always love the early 90s falling pictures as my fav. It was current for the time and represented a scrapbook like anyone would have of their "All My Children".

Thanks, AMC - my grandma's soap, and the source of so many happy memories. Love you.

I wish they would end with this theme and the book. But they won't. They don't want to remind viewers of what they're losing. RIP AMC.

@QueenNostalgia My mom watched AMC religiously, still does. I'm sad that such a huge influence in TV is coming to a sad end.

i am in SHOCK!!! why does the good soap operas come to its inevitable END?!!!

Such memories....I miss these days. I watched this as a child also.
This opening was such a classic, a hallmark of the show in those days.

Shame to hear that this show got the axe. I, personally, never watched AMC, but my mom counted it as one of her fav daytime soaps, next to Another World, As The World Turns, and, way back in the 80's, Santa Barbara. Anyhoo, it's sad that daytime television will never be the same.

@BoneThugsEternal Me too. I grew up watching this show and was so very saddened this morning at the announcement of this beloved show being cancelled. :( Feeling nostalgic so I had to come give it a listen...:)
you all are right. brings back beautiful childhood memories for me too. just like the '83 AMC opening. '83 opening i was 5-6 years old. i was 11 when this version aired. i remember both very much.

@BoneThugsEternal Sorry, I forgot to label it as February 1988. I have the same February 16 opening from Erica's wedding. Maybe you were still 10? Anyway, thanks for commenting. Nice to hear from you.

what's so bad about keeping the original? those are trademarks. did "i love lucy" or the "honeymooners" or even "roseanne" ever change the music? nope. different versions maybe, but still the same notes. AMC changed in attitude after they changed the music, and it will never be the same again.

What's with the Falling Pictures theme? I believe it was the best opening theme yet for the show.
