guitar hero songs never had a black flag song or a zeppelin song!

Music today lacks heart and soul. It's mostly pop sluts, nigger rap, and dime a dozen rock bands who no one will remember 10 years from now. It's all about record labels finding someone with a catchy tune and seeing how much they can cash in on them before people get tired of them.
As for Guitar Hero, it's just a game. I play drums IRL but I still enjoy whipping out the plastic guitar from time to time. Only the Harmonix ones are good though. 3+ are shit with shit music to sell lots of copies.

I realized something about guitar hero when I did better with the sound off.

@stephanzo1 Plus i'm not saying 80's "shredders" could've put him to shame- the pentatonic scale is almost as easy as your basic 4 chord progression. What about all thos unnamed jazz guitarist (not talking about the scrubby ones that play in school bands or played old ass swing) I'm talking about the ones that broke every rule of music and made it their own, the ones that could put everyone to shame if people evcen knew what they were playing. This was even before and after his time.
-
@stephanzo1 Only because he got there first. Now, imagine someone else was there instead of Jimi. Paul would be covering said person's songs rather than Jimi.
-
@YosneyLing18 Just look at all of the covers of hendrix that paul has done on hendrix. He obviously knows who the greatest was. Paul is an amazing player, but was only able to take his guitar playing ability to new heights because of the change Jimi Hendrix brought around.
-
@YosneyLing18 I have crazy respect for people that can shred such as paul and joe. But do i think they would've taken Jimi's place? Hell no. It gets me heated to say the least when people try and say that the shredders of the 80s could've put him to shame. That pentatonic scale that they shred on was inovated by hendrix. You hear any interview of Paul's and he'll talk about how great Jimi was. Hendrix changed the game forever with his new style that all guitarists after model themselves by.
-
@stephanzo1 Metallica isn't talent, Jimi was just lucky he was there first. He was innovative for his time period but if it was Paul Gilbert or someone else, they wouldve easily taken his spot. Example: Elvis Presley. The man only knew like 3 chords, yet he's on higher grounds than Jimi. What is your point?
-
@YosneyLing18 you both just named a heavy metal shredder that took every single scale, every single chord progression, pattern, and note off of the late great and most innovative guitarist of all time. Jimi Hendrix makes EVERY single person who touches the guitar look like an infant. What's more is, he played with a passion unparalleled by any 80's "shredder" that you self proclaimed experts of music no nothing about. You with your Metalica based assumptions will never understand true talent.
-
@Uberado ,Thank you. Me too...well,I'm not a shredder or anything,I just enjoy making Music. Not at all my friend, not at all,at least someone is teaching you, haha.
-
Lol well the way you were all against the shitty styles of music, and all for the awesomeness of metal made it seem like you weren't trolling.
-
@Uberado Are you joking? Your asking that statement. That was over a year ago, i was trolling. Why are there so many sensitive people on youtube?
-
Don't forget Chickenfoot! :D
-
The fact that someone else knows this epic Zakk quote is epic! Long live real music! \m/
-
Kirk Hammet winning against Hendrix.... Were you fucking dropped as a baby?!?! >:O
-
Glad to see there's still some hope for the modern tastes in music these days. However, with me existing, you may have some competition for that biggest fan of old school classics position lol!! ;D
-
Lol I feel ya man. I shred the frets, and the buttons. But, is it wierd if Grand Theft Auto taught me how to drive? Lmao!! XD
-
Eddie was great, couldn't touch Jimi, and despite his amazingness, Eddie was still overrated.
-
Also, there are alot of amazing bands and Guitarists here today. For example, Alter Bridge, Avenged Sevenfold, Steel Panther, John 5, Buckethead, An Endless Sporadic, The Black Mages, Steve Ouimette, Godsmack, A Perfect Circle, Shinedown, Black Label Society, Michael Angelo Batio, and that's just to name a few....
-
Jimi could play any note, and every scale by memory. He could listen to a song once or twice, and learn it himself, strictly because he knew where EVERY note and EVERY scale was. He could also learn the songs backwards thanks to his amazingness.

*Reads up to Matt Belammy* Facepalm!

Playing Guitar Hero is fun. Playing Guitar is more fun. Playing Guitar is more difficult. Playing that blistering Buckethead song, or shredtacular Van Halen song is far easier on Guitar Hero, but it's far more rewarding and awesome on real guitar. I'd prefer Guitar any day, but that doesn't mean Guitar Hero isn't fun. Besides, it's a buff: If someones better than you at Guitar, you can say you're better at GH, and Vise-Versa, so you feel less shitty for having some 10 year old Asian Pwn you.
-
Page and Plant specifically said they didn't want to be in a GH game because they didn't want their music being discovered because of a "Wanking game".
-
I despise Guitar Hero. But I still understand that it's just a game. What I hate most about it though, is the annoying bastards who think they are automatically guitar gods because they finished the game.
-
(Most) Music today sucks because people support what's given to them rather than what's good.
-
haha, idiot boy who thinks metal is still alive.
-
@UristMcgee Its sad how MTV lost its charm, they fucking used to play Nuclear Assault and Metallica on their godforsaken channel (and ofcourse alot more bands, those are the ones i have seen on youtube from old clips)
guys. guys. GUITAR HERO IS A FRIKIN GAME!!! get over it, guitar hero was made for entertainment, not for you in particular. as for music today, yes it does, because you guys make it seem like its crap because its a fad. its all repetative true and personally i dont like it, but get over it. as for jimi, yeah wasnt all that good. all you "musicians" must know that as a GUITARIST, there are many like petrucci who make jimi look like an infant. Big difference between Guitarist and musician.

@YosneyLing18 I agree.. Petrucci very much dwarfs Hendrix.

MTV sucks ass. Guitar Hero sucks ass. And like you said modern music sucks ass. I hate being born into this generation. I'm the only fucking 16 year old who knows who Jorma Koukonen is from Jefferson Airplane. I don't even play guitar, I'm a bassist. Music today sucks because it has lost total connection with the blues. Simple as that.

Dude I'm right there with you. I'm 17 and I'm also a bassist. And I TOTALLY agree with you about music losing its roots in the blues. It's kinda sad now that I'm so into music and I really only have two people I know my age who I can talk about guys like Geddy Lee and Chris Squire with.
