You leaps AFTER the spin move from the pivot foot with both feet. This is absolutely legal. You're splitting hairs in terms of what foot he jumped off first, even though he leaps off both. Even so ... he can leap off the free foot in the move. A pivot foot just keeps you restricted to pivoting off that one foot. You can jump off any foot in the move.

The one against the Knicks wasn't a travel but the first was close; he moves so fast, it's hard to tell. The refs can't call everything... Imagine if they called carrying over or "palming" the basketball? Not to mention, just about every player travels when performing the spin move.

No, they don't. As long as the ball switches on hand on the spin, there is no travel / carry.

I should've qualified what I said... I was thinking when they pick up (stop) their dribble on a spin move; that could be called a travel the majority of the time, but certain rules have been bended a little. For example, the "palming" the basketball rule.

But the evolution of "palming" makes sense for the game with the advanced athletes, manuevers with the ball, etc Makes the game so much more exciting. As long as your hand doesn't go under the ball, it shouldn't be called palming anyway ...

That's entirely my point. The game has to "evolve" even though the official rulebook may say otherwise. I think we both know that the LeBrons, Kobes and Wades get away with a fair amount of traveling.

In terms of the more strict versions of the rule? Sure, but so does every player. If called as tight as possible the game would be horrendously boring. If the games were called like that you'd never have a Magic, Jordan, Isiah, Iverson, Baylor, Robertson, Pistol Pete, Archibald, etc
