NEW HAMPSHIRE MOTOR SPEEDWAY

thoughts about the school:

drivetech is the best. there are few stockcar schools out there, and of them, drivetech laps its competition. now the instruction is geared for beginners, and its focus is to help those drivers have as much fun as possible without having to "overthink" stockcar driving. you're given 30 minutes of instruction, instead of what could easily take 3 days, and if you pay for it you can have 3 days worth of driving to follow that 30 minutes of instruction. so clearly, if you're looking for racing grade instruction, drivetech offers another program (which i did not take) that might emphasize that area of learning more than its "experience" does. but the biggest and most important things to say are these: 1) no other school gives you the speed and freedom you have on the track; you have it from the moment they throw the green flag, not your last lap, and your level of driving and enjoyment stays peaked the entire time, 2) the car's and staff's main concern is no incidents, and although one might first say, well I want to go faster, I think they draw the line at the perfect place.

if you want to go fast then get your own car. this is supposed to be an experience, not the real thing, and the cars perform thusly. if you think you can run with the big boys, get your own car, go out there alone, see if you can run competive times in a real car, if you do then try and run with them.

other thoughts:

Please, no matter how much you guys want, don't say anything bad about her (and my #7) driving. This is her second time in a stock car. This is her first time in a Tour Modified. This is her first time at NHMS. She has no idea what the car can and can't do; she did not have a ride along nor the chance to follow another driver. Add to that, that she the mod needed several laps to really warm the tires up. I think she did Awesome. Add to that, that her goal was not to be "super fast" but instead to "have fun", "smile a lot", and "keep the car from backing into the wall". Ask me, she did all three. So did I. Congratulate her (us) for that.

Thanks for watching.
