Happy for you Sharon. Putting Belize on the map in a very special way. Nuff respect. I once met a zoo manager from the UK who was so impressed with the fact that the animals were pretty much in their natural habitat. He said thats rare in zoos.

@VFoxx The Jaguar was in danger of being killed because it was killing cattle. The farmers would have shot it. All the animals in the Belize zoo are rescued animals, not just taken willy-nilly from the wild for the purposes of creating a zoo. The zoo also has a very good education program teaching local children the value of conservation in the area. You should really do your research before making accusations against people

Belizeans maintain the zoo, and all the animals there were animals who were injured or sick within their natural habitat. And why should the US be "better"? You have the highest divorce rate in the world! It IS a jewel.. it is untouched, unlike the countries you choose to send your armies and troops into. I'm proud of my country... and disappointed in your thinking.

You are highly misinformed. This Zoo was created completely from animals that have been affected by us whether they were shot and left to die, have some defect/disease, or simply lost their sense of natural survival due to humanity moving in (I.e food handouts, cows on farms, etc.)

The animals all would not have survived if it was not for the zoo, many are endangered species like the scarlet macaw. Preservation of these animals are becoming more vital

What this lady has done is cruel and disgusting claiming that the animals are happy, now that they have been taken from their own homes and shoved into this zoo. On top of that destroying the eco system. humans have already messed up enought, leave the animals alone!!! I dont understand how the commenter says the jaguar is a killer, HELLO its JAGUAR, they KILL other animals for survival, her solution, lock em up, because apparently animals are not supposed to kill. boycott this zoo
