Rare 12" mix of the original version of a-ha's Take On Me released in 1984 and ignored until it was remixed and re-released in 1985, spurring them on to worldwide success and fame.

What a gem.Thankyou so much for posting this fascinating glimpse into the pre-history of such a classic. It's funny how similar it was to the remixed - and possibly recorded,(since there were very subtle singing differences - '85 versions.But the simple difference is the later addition of that synth "theme' which served as a pulse/heartbeat,which is missing from this early version. Music history at its best.Cheers

The remixed version is quite different like ucfbtm said. And that other version with the sketches should be called Pipe Wrench Fight lol. This is the best song!

Yea I think so - there's the 1984 original 7" mix, the 1984 12" mix (this one), the 1985 re-recorded 7"/album mix and the 1985 12" mix.
