Do you need to run the air pump continuously....through the night?

After hours of research, and many yet to go, just wanted to drop a note of appreciation for the simple, easy to understand, to-the point video. Happy hydro!

how do you keep your bucket solution cool in the hot sun? I had problems with the temperature in my 5 gallon buckets last year.

walmart has triple outlet air pumps for 5 bucks. run 3 bucket setups, with one pump.

No, soil would eventually be washed away. I usually use Hydroton (expanded clay aggregate) or Growstones (recycled glass product). I have also used Hydroton mixed with rockwool cubes - that works as well. That was good question - thanks for asking!

how often do you have to change the water?

@smeightytwo
Approximately every three weeks. Usually drain, fill with clean water then drain again then fill with new nutrient solution. I have gotten great results with this method.

Thank you - I am glad you see some value in this simple system. I have done many experiments in hydroponics the past 30 years; so far, this is the easiest that works better than anything else I have used.
