Even though it wasn't true to Lovecraft's story I liked it because it tells the horror of how people treat one another. Plus the actors and actresses (the players as they were called long ago) that starred in this film were great.

@jewel1260 Why can't actors and actresses today be as great? Maybe we have developed an unhealthy stigma. Or maybe I'm being too liberal here, lol.

@KelticWoman1 What a profound thought. Truth drips from each syllable. Sad isn't it? How we are frightened by each other and our own shadow. If one is bold enough to explore this thought then he or she will discover many things happening in the world around us much more terrifying than anything captured on film or written on paper.

@hypnodance Lovecraft's stories have never been done justly. Sadly, with many things there is a motive for profit. What evolves from this way of thinking is too horrible for words. If you want good Lovecraftian adaptations google hp lovecraft society. They just released a second dvd for his story "The Whisperer In Darkness". The first was Call of Cthulu.

I've never seen this movie before but was on the edge of my seat throughout. Loved when Gig Young kicked Oliver Reed's butt as well as the gang of hoodlums. Great acting, cast, and creepy atmosphere. Always loved the beautiful Carol Lynley. She was a great actress in every picture she acted in. Thanks for posting it.

I spent this whole movie expecting to see some kind of demonic whatsit, and it turns out to be her crazy sister or something? Kinda disappointing.
The real monsters in this film were the human ones. Not what I expected from an H.P. Lovecraft tale.
