This child is being raised in a bilingual household, but does not use any spontaneous Spanish to communicate. His attempts result in jargon (nonsense that has authentic-sounding intonation). If two adults are speaking in Spanish he will try to join the conversation, and it sounds like Spanish, but there are only occasional real Spanish words. Here the therapist models repetative utterances in a song (since he loves music and singing). He gets practice and feels successful using some Spanish.
