Yeah, back in the day my band director would say "They aren't very loud." I think that was a civilised way of saying "Beware: stay away!" Ah well, here I am playing euphonium and alto clarinet...some of the most "underappreciated" instrumensts :P what am I gonna do..

Thanks - I really enjoyed that. I played along on my Alto. I'm not too good at it, but it was nice :-) I've nearly got the whole family of clarinets now. Just waiting on my Eb which should be here soon !

I dont see why vibrato is not used on the clarinet. I've tried it myself and it gives the same beautiful edge it does for other instruments. This song seems like an excellent one to use it for.

haha i play alto clarinet too lol im using alto sax reeds also! ive never used the correct ones though but it still makes sounds thats all that matters! haha

Haha when I tried it didnt work at all. The only reeds that work for me are Vandoren 3's or Rico 3 1/2's. IM supprised he got a sound out with an Alto Sax reed. The 3 best clarinets at my school couldn't play the alto with out an actual alto reed.

I used to think about using Alto Sax reed instead of Alto Clarinet reed, but I never tried it ... !!
