@rootiest Haha, this is a British vs. American English problem. Black tie = tuxedos. White tie = another kind of dress code (google it). According to tradition, you shouldn't wear a wing collar with anything apart from the latter. People break this rule of course, but wearing a fold-down collar with a tuxedo looks much more classy.

big head def goes with big collars. i agree but the height of the collar also correlate with the length of your neck too. so longer neck means taller collar. u see?

And a wing collar... with BLACK TIE? Dude, no. You should only ever wear a wing collar with white tie - full evening dress. The correct collar to wear with a tuxedo is a turned down collar formal shirt. Lots of people (particularly in the States) break that rule, but I tell you - those of us who don't judge the rest of you for doing it :P

Band collars are fine for casual/smart casual. I admit they don't fit with your wider style (you're clearly a very classic dresser), but they are great for giving an exotic edge to an otherwise quite middle-of-the-road outfit. Of course, I'm British, so maybe things are different here.
