Peak Moment 157: Former truck driver Bill Wilson tells an insightful story about the energy packed in a gallon of gasoline. Now a permaculture educator, he sees permaculture as a viable, realistic way to use nature to provide the abundance we really need -- harvesting sunlight, food, wind, water and more. Can you guess what the magic stuff is that we all can't live without? (No, it's not oil.) In his classes, Bill not only passes on a bounty of practical, common sense ideas, he also inspires people to experience being alive on the planet, finding their connectedness with life, their passion and ways to make a world that works for everybody.

  • I do, its called a college degree. And no, I don't need to be baited into stickcam - I have a life.

    You're a little too naive yet to really understand what your talking about so a discussion is moot.

    The definition of Anarchy (as sited by yourself) is NO RULER.. NO ENFORCED Authority.

    Working together voluntarily is not anywhere near Communism nor do you apparently grasp what true Anarchy means.

    It does not mean chaos and disarray, and separatism - that's retarded, sorry.

    Anarchy = NoGov.

  • 25:00 No greater words have I ever heard. That was amazing and you right.

    Everyday - We should decide not to go to war, not submit to tyranny, not to become lazy, narcissistic and asleep. I will do what is in my heart to do, not what I am told I 'should' or 'must' do - but what the energy that surrounds me compels.

    I can't wait till we all live in a world full of people like you. I think I do, they just don't know yet. Let's wake them up. ;?)

  • this is nice

  • Is it just me, or does everyone on this show seem like they're really annoyed by this lady?

  • He said they started a town but it didn't last, sad. I guess they were defeated by their televisions.

  • Best quote: "Holy cow, there's gotta be more to life than TV and cornflakes!" - Bill Wilson

  • 'have you ever felt more alive than you have in the past 2 years' -24:16

    wow... so true. how beautiful this man's heart is

  • I am moved, this mank knows. Thank you!

  • Nature is conservative. You would struggle to find a plant that is photosynthesizes at an efficiency of 1%. Bamboos come close. Philosophically we need to do more with less, post-peak, like the rest of nature.

  • What happens when we stop? they become weaker, no bricks need to be thrown, no riots, or burning tires in the streets. at the moment though the perceived "help" of the Gov. to alternatives is really to prolong the dependence on oil, how? they know only a fraction of the population will go alternative, and by lowering consumption of oil, will extend the availability of it, allowing more profit to the oil companies over a longer time. Corporations run this country.

  • The "Cellular" network of these eco-villages could would give them strength, excess production cold be sold to nearby cities and towns, I mean there is way to little room to explain here all the details, but people work, make money and do not have to live like the Amish, or under "communism" the Anarchy I see is that these people do not need government, are not dependent on others for survival like big corporations. corporations are powerful because people buy their products.
