We decided to put together this video to raise awareness for the many textile workers overseas in countries like China, Indonesia, and Vietnam etc. We hope this video at the very least helped you form an opinion.
We changed the lyrics of "I Will Follow You Into The Dark - Death Cab for Cutie." All rights to the music belong to Death Cab for Cutie and their record label, Atlantic Records.
Here are the lyrics:
Stuck at school
Education is so cruel
I just want to get through
Out from here, but I have no choice
Stuck at work
No time to shed a tear
I am forced to overwork
For my mom, I have no choice
13 cents an hour
How much does your paper route pay
When you buy new sneakers
Do you care what the tags say
Do you care to listen
Or pretend that you dont hear
To the desperate cries that disappear
Wasted time
These sneakers, what a lie
Theyre supposed to make me fly
But who cares I'll get a new pair
Wasted time
Why rest and lose a dime
I just might break my spine
But who cares I'll just make new pairs
13 cents an hour
How much does your paper route pay
When you buy new sneakers
Do you care what the tags say
Do you care to listen
Or pretend that you dont hear
To the desperate cries that disappear
Next time you buy your clothes, think about the choices you make. Leave your thoughts below. Thanks for watching!
Great video, Thanks.

My RESPECT for standing up for an important cause in this way!!! I think your song is great and very powerful. My advice would be to post a separate video with only the music. Give some attention to the setting and atmosphere of the recording and let the message fly through the music. You may reach a bigger audience in that way. All the best, greetings from The Netherlands.

@oofay789 It's not flawed, just has credit bubbles from Government involvement which makes what would be enclosed failures widespread. Most of the problems arise because that the Governments of these countries make deals with corporates and put thereselves into positions where they need corporations to simply sustain growth, it would be much better if they opened up their resources to their own citizens to make their own businesses.

Agreed you do need the means and to get that would probably take a philanthropist, or a bunch of well informed consumers not willing to buy the products that come from sweatshops. And maybe a state that doesn't make deals with the IMF or World Bank that strips the workers of their rights. And you are right it may fail but booms and busts are always a possibility for anyone working within the spectrum of a flawed system.

@oofay789 You can't have a cooperative if you don't have the means of production, which of course cost a lot in money. It's possible, sure, but it would have to be a big cooperative, which raises issues if people who are just scraping by would be willing to invest in something which may ultimately fail, thus harming them further. Though it would be interesting to see if cooperatives have ever suceeded in these situations.

I don't understand your analogy at all
You asked for an alternative, I gave you one

@oofay789 When people don't own jack all? Nice try, would be like trying to organise a piss up when all you've got is donkeys piss
