The DVD Drive in my 360 Finaly Kicked the Bucket so here is how I fixed it!

I Get Replacement Drives and other parts from http://www.llamma.com/

~This was a Toshiba/Samsung drive but the method should be similar for Hitachi & BENQ drives!~

* Your warranty is now void. * I am not responsible for bricked devices, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because you failed to wake up to your alarm.
* Please do some research if you have any concerns * YOU are choosing to follow these instructions and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

  • Hey I was wondering if anyone knows when you open a samsung dvd drive, if the spindle on the top case is suppose to move, as in wiggle back and forth, it is very loose and I am wondering if this is causing problems? its one of the drives that has a black spindle on top, rather than a gray/ silver one. Thanks!

  • @IDramza if its in the top of the drive above where the disk sits then its supposed to be free floating and should be able to spin.

  • what happens if i dont replace the logic board??

  • @THAfluffyONE It will not work...

the Xbox will not recognize the drive and then if you happen to log into live Microsoft now knows that you have been messing inside your xbox and might see it as a cheat hack or something else worthy of banning you from Live

  • So you dont need to flash it anymore after doing this?

  • can i switch my samsung board, into a hitachi drive?

  • How can you tell what kind of drive is in an xbox without opening it cause i dont want to void the warranty in case it doesnt match.

  • Excellent! It worked perfectly. Now my Xbox plays games like how it did when it was new. Thanks for uploading this useful information. Unlike some other videos they failed to mention the importance of swapping out the circuit board. If I didn't know that I would have just put in a new Disc Drive without the circuit board swap and would have been wondering why it won't play games.

  • I had a pro that got the red rings and i had it under warranty and sent it in but they sent me back an older xbox with a crappy disk reader and this helped me out alot thanks

  • Do you know anything about doing this with a Phillips BenQ drive? If you know any tutorials, or if its the same basic thing id really appreciate a reply.

  • Will doing it this way keep you from getting banned from xbox live?

  • does this work with Philips & Lite-on drives?
