The refrigerator is a Kelvinator single door, manual defrost refrigerator. It is likely from the early-mid 1970's as it is manufactured by the Kelvinator division of White Consolidated Industries which acquired Kelvinator from American Motors in 1968.
Also a 1950's RCA portable TV 8-PT series from the 1950's and a 1930's or 40's Westinghouse console radio (both before repairs).
I got all of these at an estate sale this weekend.

  • The fridge is a "model SXSSSSX131RM"? And what did you trip over when backing up? :-)

It's interesting just how many pre-WWII radios have shortwave. Unfortunately during the war, the government took over all the U.S. commercial shortwave stations and never gave them back. Ever since then, U.S. shortwave stations are not allowed to broadcast to U.S. listeners, which led radio makers to remove the shortwave band on almost all consumer sets after WWII.

  • Hey now don't be making fun hahaha!! I had had a long day and was TIRED when making this video and still had to make the drive home :)

I actually backed up into the RCA cartidge tape recorder which was sitting on the floor when I was moving things, luckily no damage.

I was actually listening to some music on SW on my GE radio here earlier in the night but then it went to talk. I used to listen to the BBC on SW but can't seem to get it now.

  • Wow that fridge is very similar to our old 1972 Philco ford fridge! same color and everything, in fact it still ran fine when we got rid of it in 1999, but we got rid of it because the bottom glass shelf was broken, and the door gasket was shot. also does that lamp have a motor that spins the lamp shade? never seen anything like that before!

  • Yes there is a little gear motor up in the top of the lamp, also there is a sound module to provide waterfall sound effects.

  • Try rubbing WD on that sold mark...

  • Your Kelvinator was made after 1978. On the sticker on the side of the door it says this fridge was available in almond. GE introduced the almond color in 1978 so you can date the fridge to being made after that.

  • i love the music you have, i mainly love the radios and televisions you demonstrated....why did you have to replace the speaker????

  • I remember White Consolidated Fridges and or other Appliances on the old Let's Make a Deal show with Monte Hall. Also I wanted to mention the BBC ceased beaming shortwave to North America a few years back. I think it's possible to still pick up their "World Service" that is beamed to a different country. You can get streaming audio from their web site, but that isn't as fun as tuning it in on a RADIO!!!

  • I wish my fridge was next to the couch.

  • you,ve got some cool stuff chad , you can get the marker off the fridge with light rubbing coumpound , but why not repaint the ole kelvinator some cool retro color, i rebuild old edison cylinder phonographs to factory new ...actually better then edison with nicer finishes, saw that old radio ,that would be a nice piece stipped /stained and varnished , and the plastic radio could also have a nice automotive finish that would look cool! but some people like to leave it original , looks great refur

  • have you tried getting the marker off with a shot of hair spray? works great for me when people do things like that. just spray it on the surface or into a rag and quickly wipe it off hair spray comes off with water.

  • I had a GE refrigerator from the early 1970's similar to that one and it weighed a ton! It was a real bear to move. That's a nice Apple II computer with two disk drives computer next to it as well :)

  • I've got one of those RCA tv's, still need to recap it though. It is amazing how the engineers crammed a power transformer and a full size tuner into that small chassis!

  • Yeah, I bet it has an Energy Star rating of about negative three!
