Thanks for posting this. Horowitz really nailed this piece. It's as if Chopin travelled through time to play for us.
With all due respect to the discussion, the studio recordings are treasured by me because I never got to see him in person.

I loved hearing this!! - indeed if this what people heard in the audience... (and not the close-miking thing)... no wonder they cheered like that at the conclusion - only Horowitz brings this overwhelming sense of scale and drama to the piano. Thanks

PhilPhilUSA - you are welcome. i love what he does in this piece - especially in his later work, 1978-1980 or so. he proportions it just right. a good reply to those who think horowitz goes for the maximum loudness or drama or even contrast, mindlessly.
