This video show the final stage of a land mark experiment that showed that mice that exercised had more neurons in the hippocampus, and as a result performed a learning and memory task better than mice that were assigned to the control group which sat in lab cages, or mice that lived in cages with mazes and toys. The conclusion was that mice that exercised have more neurons, learn better and have better memories.

  • This video was used to highlight some research that used rats in the original experiement. The rodents in the video are mice, I could not find actual footage of rats!

This is highlighted in the presentation that this video is linked to.

  • Call yourself a scientist, learn your bloody animals first, jesus mate!

  • RATS?! this guys a bloody idiot

  • I don't know if it's really exercise making them smarter - could be just that because they were in good physical shape, they knew they could tread water long enough to find the platform.

  • @509734 if the size of a mouse is a small sperm to you---what the fuck does ur sperm look like :O

  • @wendyXpeggyXpancho Clearly the experiment isn't for humans. It's testing the intelligence of the mice.

  • that is not bad or good but you konw what i meen by good for thaem :)

  • Huh?

  • @509734 ew!!!

  • The MICE, MICE! They are MICE!

  • @wendyXpeggyXpancho Also, mice and rats sometimes LOVE water and will go for a swim entirely of their own accord. These mice don't seem too perturbed. :)
