@peterphilip Ummm..that's the point I was trying to make..the south wanted more people in congress and that's why they wanted to count the slaves as '1'.....to combat that the north wanted to deminish their power

no. people who wanted them to be considered 1 person had nothing about them voting in mind. They just wanted more representatives in congress. The north took them in when they fled. (underground railroad) Do you know anything about history at all? Does anyone on here? Anyone know what facts are?

@peterphilip Once again you're wrong...As a history teacher...the North wanted to count blacks as '0'..the South wanted to count the slaves as '1'; because they wanted more power in congress and the north thought that counting slaves as 1; even though they couldn't vote was wrong because the south held them in slavery..so with the help of abolistionist they came up with a compromise to count blacks as 3/5 in order to limit the power of the South in Congress. Sorry to disappoint you!

@peterphilip WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? Should I accept as a black man my success be taken away by LIBERALS because they feel BAD for people who wasn't successful in their lives. Should I feel bad that I made good decisions? Pensions? Ummm..Pensions are paid into..not given. If you don't pay into a pension plan..you don't get anything from it.....

Everyone knows why blacks were treated as 3/5ths of a person. As others have stated here, why don't you provide some answers instead of telling everyone to do some fact checking. Wikipedia is not a valid source for information, and is known to be a liberal organization. Why can't you handle Mr. Beck demonizing liberals, and Muslims? Does it bother you? Who cares. Talk about hypocrite. Maybe you should just change the channel, and let us right wingers alone. Stay in your MSNBC world.
