As Senior Vice President of Engineering at Google, Vic Gundotra has been developing software for most of his life. So if anyone can appreciate the protective potential of the right algorithm, he can. But in this case, Vic's appreciation comes not because of what he does for a living, but because he's experienced it first hand. In this exclusive video, he tells you, in his own words, how the vehicle safety innovations in the S63 AMG may have helped him avoid disaster.

  • Ford sucks, Chevy sucks, Toyota sucks... Mercedes is a whole other level.

  • @vikram360 Of course he didn't get paid for it. He just wanted to share the real life experience from beginning of January 2011 and show his appreciation to us at Mercedes. As he says in the video, he was just thankful that nothing happened to the people in the car(s) in front of him and to himself.

  • Too bad their cars are ugly as hell.

  • @whatevercomputes You wont regret that trust me

  • God bless Mercedes-Benz

  • Great ad

  • @crasherball I don't know where to begin with this....no one is 100% anything at any time, but I assume you're being rhetorical. I also do not drive 24/7, just as needed, and I pay attention while doing it, I have a 100% success rate of not rear ending anyone.

I didn't say or imply that all accidents are avoidable, but if you wish to not use any of those features in a vehicle, be my guest.

  • Mercedes - saving the rest of us from distracted drivers!

  • I guess it couldn't be could based software or it was too late to react.

Android might be a piece of software that may distract drivers due to it's extremely attractive functionality.

Google should be promoting electric cars as a safer way to move (for everybody breathing around anyway).

I'd like to see Android on future car infotainment systems, specially on the Nissan LEAF ;)
