I love every version of the song, from the unreleased alternate version with Clapton to the performances on his first tour with just piano and banjo but this version really kicks. Shame it didn't last the tour as it's a real highlight from the set :)

I like the cow moos sound in the live version. Helps solidify the imagery of the hardships of a rural farm life.

@evoxtcy This version comes from a special edition of the 'Do You Remember - live' CD single that came in a very nice carousel-shaped box. It is very rare, though, and I can imagine why you might never have seen it around. That CD single also featured the semi-acoustic live version for 'Doesn't Anybody Stay Together Anymore' that was performed on the second half of that same tour.

He's brilliant... and @ evoxtcy it was released as a studio version on his Face Value album... track 5 or 6 I think, and it has a real mournful bluegrass slide sound in the background. Very moving version the album one!

Thanks for uploading. I've looked all over for this song. I got to see him perform this song in Chapel Hill, NC at the Dean Smith Center. It was one of the greatest shows I ever got to see. I felt lucky to see him perform this then and I feel lucky now that someone has uploaded. it. As far as I know it was never been recorded for retail sale.
