  • Did this guy study a Roddy Piper promo before taping this?

  • Anyone else think Matt Borne sounds and looks and sounds a tiny bit like Roddy Piper here?

  • I thought Matt Bourne Doink was cool. This was typical of the "Everything sucks, but ECW" idea that Heyman pushed at the time. This was a good angle though, by ECW. Also notice how cool it could have been if Douglas could have swallowed his pride with WWE/F ,or Ric Flair and WCW? He and HBK could've had a real nice fued, or more sweet Benoit/Malenko matches on Nitro, but thats all fantasy booking now.

  • Matt Borne is one of the all-time greats. He was on the first mania, wrestled out of Portland and the guy was an awesome talent.

  • CLASSIC ECW

  • cartoon character or not, I give WWF credit. Doink played by Matt Borne is actually a very good character, now that I look back on it. Doink the Clown was clearly inspired by John Gacy the Killer Clown.

And don't forget in 1997 at Hardcore Heaven, ECW did explore the world of clowns. Insane Clowns. A posse of Clowns, An Insane Posse of Clowns. Doink is the missing Insane Clown.

  • Yeah i've always thought Borne sounds like Piper. You're not the only one. lol

  • @2009Murph no kidding!!!!!

  • Is it me or did Doink/Borne sound a little like Roddy Piper?

  • WWE will never ever has what ECW,ROH or all the major Japanese promotions had or have.

  • CZW = RIOTS, not good wrestling.

  • I don't know anyone in the business who says that Douglas was any better than average, which is why he was a midcarder in WWE and WCW.
