War were an American funk band, best known for the hit "Low Rider". In 1985 they released a cover of the Young Rascals song "Groovin'".

  • In 1986 while on a tour of duty in Okinawa Japan I picked up this homemade cassette with this version of Groovin on it. The cassette was of poor quality & it's long gone. I would like to add the song to my collection, can anyone tell me what LP or soundtrack it's from? I've looked & looked but I've been unable to find it. Keep "Groovin" & thanks in advance........

  • @CumbiaCowboy I never saw it on any album or compilation of theirs. It did appear on a UK dance compilation - "Now Dance - The 12" Mixes", but apart from that, may only be picked up on vinyl. To my knowledge it has never appeared on CD, which is a crime to say the least!

    Thank you for enjoying! :)

  • Cool.

  • absolutely lovely but the rascals rule

  • @CumbiaCowboy -CoCo Plum Records, 1984, number 1001.12 inch and 7 innch singles only.

  • A great rendition of this song.

  • VK2XPT - Thanks, really appreciate it.

War fans: 4 original members of War - Harold Brown, B.B. Dickerson, Howard Scott & Lee Oskar still tour as The Lowrider Band. Papa Dee died of a heart attack & Charles Miller was murdered. Lonnie Jordan still performs & tours as War . In recent years I've seen both acts & nothing can compare to Lee Oskar on harp.

  • @CumbiaCowboy It was on their album "Where There's Smoke", released by "Coco Plum" records.

  • @Lghtning38 I believe it was the "Young Rascals.....

  • Check out the instramental.."In the Rain" by Lee Oskar...whom play harmonica for the group War.

  • @CumbiaCowboy

Can't believe the one person that didn't like this song missed out on "Groovin"!!!!! Baby it must be cold outside where you live!!!!
