Unseasonally heavy rains in June 2009 formed lagoons of freshwater around sand dunes behind Jericoacoara in the north of Brazil. In our kitesurfing travels about the top end of Brazil in September and October 2009, we were lucky enough to stumble across strong winds whipping across these lagoons and the massive sand dunes in the middle of them which were relatively unknown to the local kitesurfing community. The dune where most of the filming for this video was done was the smaller and more accessible of the two main dunes in the lagoon. With even more wind and slightly bigger egos, who knows what we may have tackled. As for next year and years to come, we only hope the lagoons will form again and the sand dunes will still be there. Somehow I doubt it. I think we were just very lucky.
