This is a demonstration of an dyed ice cube melting in cooking oil. The density of ice is less than water and the oil, so the cube floats. The water is more dense, so it sinks. This unique property of water is due to hydrogen bonding.

  • @PeidoLord to dye the icecube you just add food coloring .

I did that with a few of my videos as well .

  • @podd9 it will cause the water level to rise because the south pole is sitting on land and when it melts off land (obouve sea level) it will cause the sea level to rise. But this will not happen with the north pole because it is an ice cube.

  • how did you make the dyed ice?

  • lavaLAMP!

As a side note, I have the same drinking glasses.
