This video shows the evacuation of Ramona as seen from the Dos Picos web cam.
HWY 67 was the main evacuation route out of town. As night fell, you can see traffic pick up as people started leaving. Later in the evening mandatory evacuation orders were given and you can see a steady stream of headlights.
As the last of the residents were leaving, the fire makes a most sinister appearance.
The good news, the fire missed most of the town hitting the east and northeast parts of Ramona. The bad news, an estimated 200 homes were still damaged or destroyed.
It was a horrible day in Ramona, but it could have been a lot worse.
I do not live in Ramona, but I have a lot of friends, colleagues, customers and co-workers who do live there and my thoughts are with them.

Lived in SD back in 2003. Now live in Nebraska. My heart goes out to all who lost things; I lost stuff in the 2003 fire. God Bless.
