I was raised in Bushwick. I remember Fr Powers asking the parish community for help in the renovation of the church. I feel such pride that my father, immigrant from DR, donated what he could and that we have contributed towards the restoration of such a beautiful church. Even if you're not 'paying attention' the stain glass and sculptures will depict the story. St. Barbara's is the sole reason for me to peruse a career in Arch. TY very much for the history of the neighborhood and of this churc.
