Every time Shuttle launches it hundreds of Astronauts that do NOT get to go to space and/or thousands of pounds of Space cargo that do NOT go to space. Why? You can have 7 Atlas V launches for 1 Shuttle launch. You can have 32 Falcon9 launches for 1 Shuttle. ITS MUCH CHEAPER to have separate cargo and people rockets. The cost and risk of Shuttle are not worth the fact that the last 20 seconds of flight, it can land like an airplane. (except you cannot abort the landing).
