On September 8, 2006, Bradley Beesley and Sarah Price screened their documentary, Summercamp!,
at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Flaming Lips contributed most of the music on the films' soundtrack, and the screening was planned to coincide with the band's tour schedule so that they could attend the screening and see the film.

The film screening was followed by an after-party at Gabby's, a bar on Bloor St. After a summer camp-style sing-a-long led by members of the film's cast and crew, and complete with a campfire and the passing around of lyric sheets, the Flaming Lips took the makeshift stage outside behind the bar and treated party-goers to a 3-song acoustic performance.

To meet YouTube's requirements, the performance has been cut into four parts:

1. Summercamp! after-party introduction
2. Jesus and the Spider Are In My Sleeping Bag Tonight.
3. Buggin'
4. Plastic Jesus

Apologies for the shoddy camerawork. Many thanks to Rani for telling me about the film, to Bradley for getting me into the party, and to the Lips for the show. I was definitely a happy camper that night.

  • what the hell is this?

  • lol No worries.

    Flaming Lips forever.

  • I apologize...It seems that day I had a big bug up my bum, and never should have written anything to anyone! I'm sorry.

  • Shit! Sorry, that blink-guy was me. I accidentally posted with my brother's ID. XD

  • Sorry, but it is just that I think that some guys talking about a movie that hasn't even been released yet doesn't make a very interesting video. As for my "could have" comment, I was at the Toronto Film Fest and had the time to see this movie, but I chose not to. The fact that I was able to see the Flaming Lips makes me want to go back in time.

I guess I need to make my comments more clear.;)

  • "could haves" always suck. I have many. But then, you complain about this event's subsequent footage (parts 2-thru-whatever). poochie, yes, where are you? don't mean to pick, or be a prick, but think about it...

  • Ugh, I could have gone to this! *bangs head against wall*
