Working with a dog currently that has separation anxiety from the owner. Starting out the owner couldn't even leave the dog with me and walk out of sight without a barking, howling, spinning, and all out panic attack. I could walk the dog away, but the owner couldn't walk away. No medication needed, and this dog was as bad...if not worse. She's right...change the routine and the pattern of behavior.

Separation anxiety is a horrible thing. My Beagle had it for a while when she was a puppy

I had a friend with a black labrador that did this. Whenever she would leave, the dog would cry for an hour and it would not let her leave easy when she came back.

First thing that should of been done is taking the dog for a long run, no medication needed. After that you start the rehab.
@slovakmath I'm sick of all this "Dog Whisper" talk. I'm studying animal (specifically dog) behavior and I can not STAND to watch the dog whisperer. The methods he uses on the dogs install fear and frustration, not learning and "OH! This is what I'm supposed to do! ok". Though dogs are canines and related to the wolf, the dog is 40,000 years removed from the wolf. I rather have a dog that does stuff cause it loves me and respects me, not a dog that won't do something in FEAR of punishment.

@deephousecompany Maybe but It wasn't just just Victoria. The vet also recommended meds. Also she did follow up with training.
