A video featuring both video & still footage of marine life whilst diving in Key Largo & Fort Lauderdale Florida during January 2009. The footage includes close encounters with Nurse Sharks, Turtles, Stingrays, Moray Eels and many more fish type. All footage was shot by myself using a very simple setup of a Panasonic DMC-TZ5 and underwater case - No external strobes.
The footage is backed up up by a mellow rolling D&B track ...
Awesome! I've got the Lumix TZ5 and was wondering if it's worth getting the marine case for it over here in North West Aus? Allthough after watching this i think i'm convinced. By the way, what aspect ratio do you use when taking shots? 4:3 or 3:2 or the other option? Any tips for underwater video's and photo's? Absolutely stunning footage you got there! Looking forward to hearing back and more great footage.

Thanks, I use 16:9 for photos & video. It is especially good when underwater.Tips: leave the camera at its widest angle i.e. never use zoom underwater. If you can get really close i.e. around a foot or so then use the flash as it wil put back the colour that is filtered out by the water, but don't use the flash on subjects that are far away as you will just light up all the particals in the water (back scatter).

use the manual white balance option ideally as you change depth...But having said that the camera has an underwater option in the presets which helps correct the colour. I bought this camera as I couldn't get an underwater case for my others and needless to say I'm very happy both in and out of the water...Get the marine case you wont regret it!

Great video, awesome HD quality for a "regular" photocamera. I'm thinking of getting the new TZ7. I would have picked other music for this video but that's just a matter of taste I think :). Did you use the official underwater case for the TZ5 or another solution?

Thanks! Yes I was pleased with the photo & video quality. Yes I used the Panasonic marine case which cost as much as the camera itself! Music well yes we all have different tastes. The TZ7 looks a further improvement of the TZ5, the mode dial is in a different place which means it would need a different underwater case...
