This chocolate recipe could become your "signature" dessert. It's a versatile and delicious sauce. This chocolate recipe can be drizzled over brownies for a decadent dessert, over angel food cake, or even used as a chocolate dip for strawberries.

This sauce recipe has a bit of cinnamon to give it a southwestern flare -- but you'll use it on all types of dessert recipes.

Syndicated columnist and Chef Rita Heikenfeld prepares this chocolate sauce as part of the perfect dessert buffet.

  • I just now tested a batch using 2% milk and Smart Balance for the butter. It turned out well, not as creamy or thick as the sauce with whipping cream (I have made it with half & half with success) and it has a wonderful dark chocolate flavor. The mouth feel is not as silky, either. I will let you know how/if it sets up as nicely in the frig as the one made with whipping cream.

  • It set up really nice in the frig so it's a winner!

  • It looks great but, I'm curious, what's Yucatecan about this recipe?

  • Nice work, we liked your video very much so we embedded it on ChefCommons w/ link back and reference to Youtube. (Let us know if you don't wish for it to be featured)

  • that looks so good

  • I just made this sauce. It is easy and very delicious. I substituted dark rum for the Triple sec and left out the cinammon and substiuted a vanilla bean for extra body.

  • can u use regular milk or mocha mix or 1% or 2% milk?
