I had to clone a drive for a Tech Tips episode I did recently and it was so painless with Acronis 2010 that I thought I'd better do an episode about it.

  • @ibholder SATA

  • what cable do you need to transfer data to and from the ssd?

  • @frozenskipper Because If you were using a OEM copy and you change the motherboard at the same time your License # is then Unusable.

  • Why would anyone ever in the history of manking ever need to buy a copy of windows if you could just do this? Or does it not copy the OS?

  • @ecceservices you just have to connect the data and power cable to your source and destination drives, change your first boot priority to your optical drive in your BIOS,load your acronis true image CD.its pretty much simple

  • WOW DUDE YOUR VIDEO IS GREAT AND BAD At the same times. The most improtant thing is telling us how to set up all those drives, but your video starts with all that set up already.. boomer.

  • Someone with modern technology! Wow! Now tell me how to clone a 2.5" HDD to a partition on an external HDD?

  • @jasonwupilly1997

Thanks but in the end I just saved the image of the disk to an external drive and then transferred it over the new drive after.

  • @Pendemic laptops are a little trickier... you have to buy an external SATA to USB hard drive enclosure and connect it to your laptop that way

  • How would this work if I'm trying to clone a laptop? I can't have both hard drives installed at once.
