John Woo & The Battle of Red Cliff

John Woo's illustrious career as a filmmaker began in Hong Kong where he spent over two decades at the center of a thriving film industry, directing over twenty-six feature films which include "A Better Tomorrow, A Better Tomorrow II", "Once A Thief", "The Killer" and "Hard-boiled". Woo's lush crime thrillers put him into the annals of film history books around the world and he is famous for his brilliantly choreographed, character-driven action films.

After spending more than a decade making movies in Hollywood with stars like Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible 2), John Travolta and Nicholas Cage (Face/Off), Woo returns to Asia to make "Red Cliff", the most expensive Chinese language movie.

Woo will be in Singapore on 10 July, to promote "Red Cliff" and he has readily agreed to give a talk to the public at the National Library where he will share his experiences making "Red Cliff", his beliefs as well as his views on brotherhood and friendship. The talk will be conducted in Mandarin.

I saw the movie and it was totally bad ass. I wish they didn't end the movie with a cliff hanger. =/ Now I gotta wait another few years to watch the second part. T_T
