This is where things get more fun, certainly for me. The inward K snare is a tricky sound to get the hang of, but it means you can beatbox forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and... you get the point.

To make the sound:
1 - Put your tongue against the top of your mouth
2 - Suck air using your lungs and snap your tongue away from the side of your mouth to get the "K" sound
3 - For the "shh" afterwards continue inhaling - as the air rushes over your tongue you'll get plenty of air and the nice sound!

Described as "[one] of the finest exponents of the hip-hop discipline" by YouTube's music blog, Fat Tony's tutorial series is THE definitive guide to learning how to beatbox. As featured on Humanbeatbox.com and BeatboxAustralia.net.

  • When I do it no sound comes out. I put my tongue ontop of my mouth then I try to make the K sound and inhale but I keep getting hiccups.

  • @discharger61 I haven't heard of someone getting the hiccups by doing the sound before! I don't even know what to suggest for that!

  • I don't get the whole thing.

What are you supposed to be doing with your tongue?

Are you supposed to keep your tongue at the roof of your mouth?

    Beatboxing is confusing.

  • @ilikecomedians It's confusing, but then as you learn it gets easier :) the tip of your tongue generally stays against the top of your mouth, the side comes away from your teeth and that's what causes the sounds.

  • is the k snare as effective as the inward k snare?

  • @JovanJacksonBeatBox The outward K generally isn't as powerful as the inward K.
