  • the problem was that even the car is indestructible, the driver is not. the forces from the crash alsi affects the object inside the car, and with an indestructible car your internal bodyparts will get incredibly damaged in a hard crash. they design them for the drivers safety, not the cars.

  • It bothers me though that Volvos used to be indestructible, now they're just safe.

  • Damn that was pretty freaking boring

  • @Sofar2 Volvo 940 was the last good volvo.

  • people dont get that when the force damage the car instead of you when you have asafe caure.

  • thats what our volvo v70 looks like and same color... poor volvo.... :(

  • @JojaMusic doesnt matter they are trying to find ways of making car safer and us as well.

  • this is a V70 not S80

  • @Sofar2 The problem is that other carmanufacturers make safer cars now. Wait, problem?

  • @Sofar2 they are much safer now and I am sure that if you crashed an old volvo as hard as that one has been it would be in a worse state especially inside the cabin.

  • @MoskvaMorten The idea (which i am sure you understand but am just trying to explain to others) is that you have crumple zones that dissipate force and decelerate the car more slowly. As you say, the driver is not indestructible, however the actual passenger zone is designed to be pretty indestructible. This means that you have a car where you have effective, force dissipating crumple zones, whilst the passengers are still not intruded upon (crushed).

  • @Sofar2 Volvos are designed to fold and bend and absorb impact away from the driver and passengers. They may look horrible after a crash but people more than likely will survive it.
