DiMarzio HS3 is a real vintage pickup, believe or not. It's hum canceling which means the pickup was made like humbucker but single coil sized. I use it in bridge and neck position, and in the middle is fender noiseless. Like most vintage pickups HS3 provides a really nice middle frequency tones and also great harmonics because it's double coil magnet. Although it's vintage pickup, it is great for heavy rock style and it was commonly used by Yngwie Malmsteen. Also, pickup can do great blues job or even funk and fusion. Very nice straty kinda sound, with lot of character and sustain. When we are talking about shred, it does very nice job, but it isn't widely used by shredders because of poor bass frequencies. For that purpose you can use his older brother DiMarzio HS4 which is also known as YJM signature pickup. They are almost the same in tone shaping but HS4 was improved with better bass frequencies which does better job for shredders.
@HarryPotter3700 I don't know, never tried. I suggest you to put some vintage pickup in a middle to get real strat middle position sounding. If you put another hs3 you will get two double coil pickups and i am not sure what this is going to sound like. I'm using vintage pickup in a middle and i really like how 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions are sounding.

@klextacy Thanx for feedback Christian. Well, thats what I wanted actually, and that is the power of those pickups. You can get a wide range of sounds, from Hendrix to Yngwie and even harder sound. I've made very versatile strat with them. The pickup is just quite, more than other pickups and that could be problem, but you can always volume it up, and bass frequencies could also be boosted with some EQ pedal, and you will get a real versatail humbucker ;)

Thanks for posting this. It's so rare to see anyone demo'ing these pickups with clean tones. I like to be able to hear what the pickups sound like naturally, without any overdrive or distortion. They actually sound really nice. Thanks again!
