Bicycles are associated with more serious childhood injuries than any other consumer product except automobiles. Sue Guzman of the Brain Injury Association says children should always wear a helmet when they ride, and that if everyone child wore one, one death could be prevented everyday. A good way to encourage your children to wear a helmet is to let them choose one they like says psychologist Howard Benesohn. Insurance Information Institute says it's also important that the helmet fit properly. It should be level on the head, and snug enough that it won't move around. And finally, tell your children to follow the rules of the road.
