I guess if google ever starts to buy scanner level data from Neilson and tying that in with the GPS coordinates, then you'll know if a product has cheaper alternatives at near by stores. Hmmmm. But if Neilson sells the data to google, the data is then public, and all their other customers can gain access to the scanner level data. Sounds like it's either google takes over the world or they don't but still have a really neat app.

Wow, thats cool.... but how does the app know the price of it? I mean, it doesn't know in which store you bought it, so the price could vary.....

It does a google search for the products name and/or barcode. The price you see is from a webpage that had it listed for sale.
